  1. Managing Director, Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers & Chemicals Limited (GNFC) (02/05/2013 up to present)

    As Managing Director of GNFC (www.gnfc.in), I am responsible for running this Company with a turnover of around US$ 1 billion and assets worth US$ 2.5 billion and a work force of around 5,500 consisting of chemical engineers and others performing supporting functions. We produce fertilizers like Urea, Ammonium Nitro phosphate and chemicals like Acetic Acid, Methanol, Toluene Di-Isocyanate (TDI), Aniline, Nitric Acid, Ethyl Acetate, Formic Acid, AN Melt, etc. Our fertilizers are used by over 12 million farmers in the country and we export industrial products to around 25 countries.

    Major Achievements:

    • Following the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister for 100% Neem coating of Urea, we undertook an innovation first of its kind Neem Project in Gujarat. It resulted in collection of more than 21,000 MT of neem seed since 2015 through self help groups, other village cooperative societies mainly consisting of women and led to additional income generation of 10-12 crores for more than 1 lakh women every year. (www.gnfcneem.in) According to a latest UNDP report, it has revolutionized the lives of many women, by increasing their decision making power, asset ownership, annual income, while reducing incidence of domestic violence. This accelerated yet sustainable socio-economic progress has been equated to five years of growth under normal circumstances. Neem Project’s holistic approach to promote socio-economic empowerment, while tackling the environmental degradation, was awarded highest merit (among more than 2700 projects) as Skoch Blue Economy Platinum Sustainability Award 2016.(www.skoch.in) and I was given Skoch Blue Economy Person of the Year Award, 2016 for my contribution by way of exemplary leadership in conceptualising, designing and managing the Neem Project. GNFC,s Neem Project had also won Golden Peacock Award for Corporate Social Responsibility 2016. This award is instituted by Institute of Directors in 1991, are now regarded as Holy Grail of Corporate Excellence Worldwide. Grand jury headed by Justice PN Bhagwati, Justice Venkatachaliah former Chief Justices and Justice Ajit Pasayat former Justice of Supreme Court.
    • GNFC’s Neem Project was awarded most prestigious Porter prize in 2017 by Professor Michael Porter from Harvard Business School. The Porter Prize recognises GNFC's contribution to creation of shared value, while creating a viable business model.
    • Honourable Prime Minister, India was kind enough to acknowledged the socio-economic contribution of The Neem Project in a television interview with CNN News- Network 18 on September 2, 2016
    • GNFC has started adopting cashless transactions for fertilizer sales and also in its township.So far GNFChas installed and operationalized 2017 PoS machines at various fertilizer retail centers falling in 243 Talukas in all the 33 districts of Gujarat.98775 farmers have purchased 11.9 lacs bags of fertilizers amounting to Rs.40.3 crore through Cashless Transaction in 40 days from GNFC retail outlets. Government of Gujarat has directed for all fertilizer companies operating in Gujarat to adopt GNFC model for cashless transaction and GNFC has trained all company officers. GNFC is the first fertilizer company in the country to do so and GNFC’s efforts for cashless transactions were well appreciated by Hon’ble Prime Minister in “Mann Ki Baat” on 25th December, 2016.
    • GNFC Township is the first of its kind Cashless Township in the country and was launched by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat on 13th February, 2017. NITI Aayog, headed by Hon’ble Prime Minister, has adopted the GNFC’s Cashless Township model and has directed all Ministries and PSUs in the country to replicate the same. Hon’ble Prime Minister launched 81 Cashless/Less cash Townships facilitated by GNFC on 14th April, 2017 at Nagpur. GNFC has played a pivotal role in technical support and hand holding in converting these 81 townships to Cashless/Less Cash.
    • In the FY 2016-17, a total of 190 records of highest ever production and sales were achieved by GNFC. This includes highest ever production in Ammonia, Urea, ANP, Formic Acid & TDI and highest ever contribution in sales of ANP, Urea, Aniline, Technical Urea.
    • TDI-II which was mainly responsible for losses in last year was fully operationalized during whole year and over 100% during the whole year by various technical and financial strategic measures.
    • Quickest ever strategic business decision making has been achieved. From an average of 2-3 days’ time taken in pricing decisions before 2012; we have been able to reduce it to 2-3 hours currently.
    • As a result of all the above factors, from a loss of Rs. 452 crores in 2014-15 there had been a complete turn around and GNFC had recorded highest ever yearly PBT of Rs.715 crore in 2016-17. GNFC has recorded highest ever export worth Rs. 361 crores, an increase by 610% from the year 2011-12. Presently, GNFC exports to more than 50 countries spread all over the world. Highest ever profits and highest ever turn-over achieved by (n)code Solutions in IT business.
    • GNFC declared highest ever dividend of Rs. 5 per share @ 50% with highest ever EPS of Rs. 33.54. As a result of all round improvement in company performance, highest ever market capitalisation of Rs. 5015 crore registered as against Rs. 930 crore two years back.
  2. Principal Secretary, Labour & Employment : (20-08-2016 upto present)

    Supervision of implementation of wide gamut of labour laws like Minimum Wages Act, Child Labour Act, Industrial Dispute Act, Trade Unions Act etc.; monitoring and supervision of Industrial Safety and Health through the Directorate across 38000 registered establishments under the Factories Act; promotion of Employment generation through employment exchanges across the State and Skill Development through a network of over 700 Industrial Training Institutes and 500 Skill Development Centers.

    Major Achievements:

    • A special emphasis was given to generation of employment by “Job Fairs”.Highest ever job fair placement of 1.09 lac in one week during February, 2017 was achieved by organisation of 12 “Job Fairs” across the State.Highest ever placement of Apprentices was also achieved during this time. A total of 315395 placements were done through Job Fairs in 2016-17 as against 191785 in 2015-16.This has been highest ever Job Fair placements in one single year.Similarly, total placements were 414279 in 2016-17 as against 336164 in 2016-16.
    • Gujarat has been a top state for last many years across India in providing employment through Employment Exchanges. Gujarat also records the lowest unemployment rate of 9 per 1000 i.e. 0.09% in the country.
    • Under the overarching umbrella of Gujarat Skill Development Mission across various sectors, skilling capacity of over one million persons per year has been created.
  3. Principal Secretary, Urban Development and Urban Housing Department (29-06-2015 to 26-06-2016)

    As Principal Secretary, Urban Development Department I have headed a Department consisting of 162 Municipalities, 8 Municipal Corporations and Gujarat Urban Development Company. Main functions included development of urban infrastructure, urban planning and various flagship schemes of Government of India and State Government like Smart City, Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transportation, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana etc.

    Major Achievements:

    • Smart City Plans of six cities i.e. Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, Gandhinagar, Dahod were prepared and sent to Govt. of India. Ahmedabad and Surat Smart City SPVs were created and a five year implementation plan worth Rs. 5100 crores was prepared and got approved by Govt. of India. As an early move in Gandhinagar Wi-Fi, CCTV surveillance, LED street lights, smart transportation with integrated command and control system has been carried out and is in advance stage of implementation.
    • Institutional structure of Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation was created. Serial Line Internet Protocol of 31 cities prepared containing 70 projects worth Rs. 1204 crores and SAAP was got approved by Govt. of India.
    • In Metro-Link Express for Gandhinagar & Ahmedabad, JICA loan worth Rs.6000 crores was got approved and work on 20.5 Km. east-west corridor is in advanced stage of implementation.
    • DREAM City Company was formed and necessary modifications carried out in Town Planning Scheme in DREAM City.
    • Surat Ring Road SPV founded and 11 T.P. Schemes approved.
    • In coordination with Energy & Petrochemicals Department, Waste to Energy policy declared and grants released for two projects to Ahmedabad and Surat.
    • 100% Toilet targets achieved in 162 Municipalities and 8 Municipal Corporations.
    • In Ease of Doing Business, all the 46 points related to Urban Development Department have been addressed and certain services have been made compulsory for on-line filing.
    • New Housing Policy following the Prime Minister Awas Yojana was prepared and declared including 170 statutory cities of Gujarat. Demand Survey under PMAY completed. A total of 78 projects for 67903 houses got approved under PMAY, 24,062 units completed and 16,303 units under progress. Redevelopment policy for old units prepared and got declared in February, 2016. All housing targets in Gatisheel Gujarat have been completed.

    As Principal Secretary Water Supply, I head the Water Supply department in Government of Gujarat responsible for providing drinking water to around 18,000 villages and 179 towns of Gujarat state with over 50 million population. This is basically a position at State Government Headquarters at Gandhinagar-the State Capital, wherein interface with other departments and State legislature are primary duties in addition to formulating major policy level decisions for the water sector within State of Gujarat. I report directly to Minister Water Supply and the Chief Minister of the State.

    Gujarat Water Supply and Sewerage Board (GWSSB) is a special purpose vehicle, created under the Act of State Government in 1979 to provide functional autonomy and facilitate quick decision making in drinking water sector. As Chairman of GWSSB, I am responsible for supervising the work of around 8,500 people consisting of around 4,000 engineers and the rest of field supervisors, linemen and administrative staff. GWSSB operates over 360 regional water supply schemes, around 10,000 mini pipe schemes and around 4,000 individual schemes of drinking water supply connecting 18000 villages and dozens of towns in the State. We have also outsourced running of many schemes to around 120 O&M agencies. On a regular basis, GWSSB also implements augmentation and remodeling of existing schemes and expands scope of drinking water network by undertaking 15-20 new regional water supply schemes every year. We run more than 2,200 small, medium and big pumping stations of various sizes and capacities under GWSSB. The O&M expenditure alone of these schemes is around US$ 175 million every year.

    As Chairman and Managing Director of Gujarat Water Infrastructure Limited (GWIL), I supervise the work of laying bulk water pipelines facilitating interbasin transfer of water of various rivers like Narmada, Tapi, Mahi, etc. To give a perspective, the pipelines laid by this organization are so big that a small family size car can easily run through these pipelines and pumping stations run by us have such huge capacities that some of them can fill an Olympic size swimming pool within less than two minutes.

    Water and Sanitation Management Organization (WASMO) is a capacity creating building arm of Water Supply department creating grass root capabilities of people for water distribution, formation of water committees in villages and for empowering women. We have formed Water Committees in all 18,000 villages, of which, around 15,000 are fully functional. They basically consist of elected village officials, women, etc. and participate actively in implementing and operating individual village water supply distribution systems including the fixation and recovery of water tariff.

    The Gujarat State Wide Water Grid consisting of around 2700 kms of bulk pipelines, 1,20,769 kms of distribution pipelines, more than 11,000 storage structures is arguably amongst the biggest water grids in the world. Again to give a perspective, only steel quantity used in grid is equivalent to more than 51 Eiffel towers and the pipelines network length is sufficient to encircle the circumference of the earth three times.

    During my last three years tenure, I have contributed extensively to building, integrating, implementing and operating State Wide Water Grid. I manage yearly budget of almost US$ 600 million and during last three years, I have acquired extensive experience of Project Management of over 100 big and small water supply projects, worth around US$ 2 billion.

    Major Achievements:

    • Providing continuous and adequate quantities of water to urban and rural areas despite inadequate rains during last three years specially when 52 dams out of 53 dams providing drinking water in the state have dried-up.
    • Due to adoption of innovative technical and administrative strategies, we have been able to increase the bulk water supply from 850 MLD to around 1700 MLD – a 100% increase in my three years tenure.
    • Completion of a major pumping station at Sadulaka with a capacity 820 KW within a record time of just 59 days augmenting total water supply by 350 MLD.
    • Completion of boosting pumping station at Bhachau with a capacity of 4200 KW along with sump of 12 million litre in a record time of just 90 days.
    • Completion of “Swarnim Gujarat” 450 km bulk pipelines (the most significant part of State wide water grid) along with four major pumping stations with a capacity of 30,000 KW in two years time.
  5. Principal Secretary, Climate Change Department (08/04/2011 to 23/02/2015)

    I have had the honor of having headed the first full-fledged, designated Climate Change Department not only in the country but also in Asia. We have developed holistic Climate Change policy for Government of Gujarat by coordinating with various Departments, Government of India and national and international agencies. This Department is also promoting the maximum utilization of green technologies including solar and wind power for generating new employment opportunities.

    Major Achievements:

    • Main streaming of Climate Change in Governmental decision making.
    • Preparation, finalization and submission of State Action Plan on Climate Change and envisaging investment of around US$ 3.5 billion.
    • Development of Gandhinagar as a solar city by adoption of solar photovoltaic power generation, solar heating systems, energy efficient lighting in Government buildings, streetlights, etc.
  6. Managing Director, Gujarat State Civil Supplies Corporation (12/07/2011 to 12/08/2012)

    Managing Public Distribution System for the State of Gujarat by supplying essential commodities like Wheat, Rice, Sugar, Oil, Salt and Pulses to the entire network of around 17,000 Fare Price Shops. This involved tremendous logistic operation of shifting commodities from Food Corporation of India godowns, transportation to around 200 godowns of GSCSC in all the 26 Districts and then managing ‘Door Step Delivery’ from these godowns to the Fare Price Shops. This operation benefits around three million families Below Poverty Line whose dependence on subsidized commodities is critical. The Corporation has a turnover of around Rs.1600 Crores (around US$ 250 million) per year with an employee strength of 1800.

    Major Achievements:

    • Procurement of more than 5400 tonnes of paddy at minimum support price for the first time in the history of GSCSC benefiting around 7400 farmers (70% in tribal areas).
    • 1,17,000 tons of wheat procurement in 2012 which was 60% higher than the previous year.
    • For the first time, procurement operations were undertaken directly by GSCSC through our own employees removing any middle agencies and thereby directly benefiting farmers.
    • Adoption of Reverse Auction System through National Commodity Exchange for procurement of pulses and other commodities, for the first time in Government of Gujarat by any organization, thereby ensuring greater transparency, saving time and substantial costs.
  7. Principal Secretary, Dairy, Fisheries and Animal Husbandry, Agriculture & Cooperation Department (18/02/2009 to 07/04/2011)

    Supervising the Directorate of Animal Husbandry (running over 2300 dispensaries, field centers, etc.) and also Commissionerate of Fisheries (involved in development of marine and inland fisheries) were the major functions in this tenure.

    Major Achievements:

    • Unique and unprecedented scheme for bolstering milk processing infrastructure by providing 884 Bulk Milk Coolers and 1889 Automatic Milk Collection Centers formulated and implemented at a cost of Rs.68 Crore (around US$ 10 million) benefiting 1.2 million livestock owners in 3366 villages, adding 1.7 million liters of milk to Cold Chain every day. It lead to substantial income generation and empowerment of women in rural areas.
    • Establishing the first “Animal Hostel” in the country - a unique project providing collective care to milch animals of the village. This led to around 15% increase in productivity of cattle, removal of filth and garbage in villages and above all reduction in labor put in by womenfolk in cattle care freeing them to pursue education and employment generation activities.
    • Establishing a Dairy Science College in a record time of just 59 days including setting up of infrastructure, manpower and obtaining of statutory permissions.
    • Establishing a major Frozen Semen Station in 11 months’ time at a cost of around Rs. 10 crore (US$ 1.5 million) providing around 1.1 million dosages yearly.
  8. Secretary, Women & Child Development Department (06/04/2008 to 17/02/2009)

    I managed and supervised the implementation of Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) through around 44,000 Anganwadi centers located in almost every village of the State. Providing nutritious hot cooked meals to children up to six years of age and adolescent girls and lactating mothers in order to address the nutritional deficiency has been the main objective of this scheme.

    Major Achievements:

    • Provided main inputs for formulation of new Government of India policy.
    • Empowerment of women through more than 200 Multi-Purpose Women Centers and connecting more than 50 of them through satellite for various capacity building and skill up gradation programmes for women.
    • Popularization of gender budgeting through Gender Resources Centre.
  9. Secretary (Kalpsar). The Gulf of Khambhat Development Project (03/05/2003 to 07/06/2004)

    This, being one of the most ambitious water development projects, envisages the creation of a 2000 Sq Km fresh water reservoir by closing the Gulf of Khambhat through a 64 Km long dam and harnessing the excess waters of Narmada, Sabarmati, etc. This 12 billion dollar project would also involve generation of 6000mw of tidal power, land reclamation all along the coast of Saurashtra, (western Gujarat) and irrigation of more than one million hectares. After having part commissioned the Narmada Project and having transported the waters of Narmada to farthest drought stricken parched hinterlands of Gujarat, the government of Gujarat is treating Kalpsar project as an extraordinary mile stone in ensuring long term water security in Gujarat State.

    Major Achievements:

    • Formation of expert advisory group for Kalpsar consisting of international expert from the Netherlands, Turkey and Mexico.
    • Work started for the fixation of alignment of the dam.
  10. Commissioner Higher and Technical Education, Chairman Technical Examination Board and Vice Chairman University Books Production Board, Gujarat State. (23/05/2005 to 06/04/2008)

    Supervision and developmental activities for institutions of higher learning (8 Universities, around 1000 colleges, around 100 technical institutions like Engineering colleges, Polytechnics, Pharmacy Colleges etc.) with a student population of around 5,50,000.

    Major Achievements:

    • Regulatory and punitive actions against unscrupulous institutions by massive drive.
    • Formulation of new policy encouraging private Engineering, Pharmacy institutions to meet expanding demand.
    • Establishment of 100 English language laboratories all over the State.
    • Establishment of new Centre of Excellence on Environment and sustainable development.
  11. Executive Director, Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Ltd. (a wholly Government of Gujarat State owned Public Sector Corporation) (16/01/1996 to 22/10/1996 & 08/10/1998 to 31/12/2000)

    I have worked for three years in this organization which is implementing one of the largest multipurpose, multibillion dollar river valley project in the world - Sardar Sarovar Project, aiming to bring around 1.8 million hectares of land under irrigation, to provide drinking water to more than 30 million people and to produce 1450 MW of hydro power. The 1210 m long concrete gravity dam with maximum height of 163 m from the deepest foundation level, ranks second in the world after Grand Coule Dam (USA) in terms of volume of concrete. The vast canal network of the Project consists of 458 km long concrete lined gravity main canal and 66,000 km long distribution network designed to convey 11.7 billion cubic meters water annually over a distance of 700 km across two major water scarce States of Western India.

    I have managed an annual budget of over US$ 500 million every year in addition to personnel management of around eight thousand technical and non-technical personnel. Working in this project has given me experience of various environmental, hydrological, economic, social and regional components of integrated river basin management. I have also been involved in constant negotiations and consensus building with various stake holders in the project viz. four major states (which may equal medium sized countries in Europe in terms of their area and population), host of environmental and human rights Non Governmental Organization, International Institutions, Transnational Corporations, national and foreign governments etc. I have also dealt with various human rights issues connected with development induced displacement and contributed to national and international literature in this regard.

    Major Achievements:

    • Raising of financial resources to the tune of Rs. 3300 crore (US$ 0.5 billion) through instruments like bonds, debentures, etc.
    • Major inputs in formulation of comprehensive communication policy for the corporation.
  12. Managing Director, Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Limited (30/12/2003 to 07/06/2004)

    Promotional activities for tourism within the State of Gujarat and formulation of policies of tourism were the main functions performed by me.

    Major Achievements:

    • Organization of major Kite Festival on an unprecedented scale with participation of more than 25 countries.
    • Revival of eco-tourism and religious tourism activities in the state.
    • Organization of Kachchh Festival to promote tourism in Rann of Kachchh.
  13. Collector and District Magistrate (Chief Executive Officer) of three major districts (Sabarkantha - 3/11/1990 to 30/11/1992, Mehsana – 03/03/1993 to 22/08/1994 and Vadodara – 22/10/1996 to 05/04/1998) in Gujarat State, India

    This is a very unique post in India whereby the incumbent is supposed to exercise control, direction and superintendence over around forty developmental and regulatory departments of the State Government in the District (the administrative sub-unit of the State, normally having a population of about 3 million) having a staff strength of around 25,000 personnel. I have worked in this position for five years. The developmental functions include integrated rural development by way of implementation of schemes aiming at providing basic infrastructure like drinking water, roads, schools, etc. in the villages and schemes aiming to assist small and marginal farmers to increase productivity in their agricultural operations. The development of small scale industries based on local skills and providing large scale employment, management of large health infrastructure consisting of more than 50 primary health centers, hundreds of medical sub-centers and para medical staff of a few thousands, collection of land revenues and other taxes on behalf of the State Govt., maintenance of revenue records, conducting quasi judicial cases under various revenue and criminal Acts, integrated development of tribal areas by way of various developmental schemes aiming at up gradation of skills, provision of assets for employment generation, increasing productivity of tribal agriculture, etc. also formed part of my duties. The regulatory functions include the maintenance of law and order through the police force and implementation of various Acts promulgated by the Central and State Governments for maintaining pubic order.

    I was involved in implementation of Special Poverty Alleviation Programmes of Central and State Governments aiming at "poorest among poor" viz. Integrated Rural Development Programme (IRDP), Integrated Tribal Development Programme (ITDP), Development of Women and Children in Rural Area (DWACRA), Training of Rural Youth for Self Employment (TRYSEM), Prime Minister's Integrated Urban Poverty Eradication Programme (PMIUEP), Scheme for Urban Micro Enterprises etc.

    As ex-officio Chairman of the District Level Credit Committee (DLCC), I was involved in formulation and implementation of five Annual District Credit Plans based on Service Area Approach.

    Major Achievements:

    • Integrated Watershed Development Project with World Bank assistance, in micro and pilot phase (1991-92) and extension phase (1997-98) to reverse the ecological degradation by appropriate soil and water conservation technology for sustainable and replicable production systems in rain fed areas .
    • Completion of a major surface drinking water supply scheme with financial assistance from Netherlands Government in the drought prone and fluoride affected areas in Mehsana district
    • Three major surface drinking water schemes in high TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) and salinity affected areas of Vadodara district.
    • Implementation of Model Integrated Development Plan in Mehsana district (1993-94), with financial and technical assistance from Planning Commission of India, for seven micro watersheds in drought affected and arid areas of the district.
    • Monitoring and supervising of Integrated Population Project (IPP) - 7 (World Bank funded) in Vadodara district (1997-98).
    • Large scale implementation of Pulse Polio Immunization Programme (1997-98) through NGO support
    • Implementation of Mahila Samakhya Programme aiming at education for women's equality in Sabarkantha district (1990-92) with financial support from Netherlands Government and Government of India.
    • Implementation of Total Literacy Campaign on a massive scale in 1991-92 with the help of NGOs, College teachers and students.
    • Acted as a Returning Officer in Two Parliamentary elections (1991 and 1998) which included preparation of voters' list for over two millions electorate, identification of over three thousand polling booths and appointment, training and orientation of over thirty thousand polling personnel, in addition to supervision and control of law and order enforcement machinery in the district.
  14. Deputy Secretary, Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Department (06/04/1998 to 08/10/1998)

    Supervision of Directorate of Animal Husbandry and formulation of public policy for dairy farmers were main functions.

    Major Achievements:

    • Formulation of Animal Husbandry Policy.
    • Settling of long pending issues of Gujarat Dairy Development Corporation, which ran four major milk processing units in the State.
    • Resolution of long pending issues of veterinarians and livestock inspectors.
  15. Deputy Secretary, Planning Department, Government of Gujarat State, India (22/08/1994 to 16/01/1996)

    During this tenure I was part of the Core Group responsible for formulation of Annual Development Plan of the State (45 million population) worth over $ 3 billion, which involved a lot of research about developmental requirements of various departments like agriculture, health, education, social welfare, civil supplies, water supply, irrigation, public works, home, transport etc. and preparation of various schemes of development for these departments, synthesizing them in the format of Annual Development Plan, which was finalized by consultations with Planning Commission of the Government of India.

    Major Achievements:

    • Formulation of Annual Development Plan of the State with the assistance and in consultation with Planning Commission of India.
    • Streamlining of planning District Office at the District level.
  16. Deputy Secretary (Textile), Industries & Power Department, Government of Gujarat State, India (07/08/1990 to 02/11/1990)

    During this tenure, I was involved with revival of the sick textile units.

    Major Achievements:

    • Formulation of revival packages with the help of financial institutions Banks and private promoters and getting them approved by Board of Industrial and Financial Reconstruction.
    • Many composite mills were revived in Ahmedabad - once known as the Manchester of East.

    Coordination with law & order agencies, implementation of preventive detention laws, police welfare activities, surveillance and intelligence gathering and coordination with district authorities during communal riots situations, were the functions performed by me.

    Major Achievements:

    • Close supervision of law & enforcement agencies in Surat riots under direct instructions of Chief Minister.
    • Stream lining of the system of preventive detention at the State Government level.
  18. Chief Editor (District Gazetteers), Government of Gujarat State (01/01/2001 to 08/04/2001)

    This job involved preparation of documents known as District Gazetteers for each district (administrative sub-unit of the State). They contain information on geographical characteristics, natural resources, socio-cultural history, patterns of agriculture, status of industries, trade and commerce, educational facilities, transport and other infra structural activities, trends of economic growth, public health and medical services, general and revenue administration, law and order, and judicial system, status of Non-Government Organizations etc. in every district of the State.

    Major Achievements:

    • Workshop for researchers, subject specialists, cartographers and academicians for finalization of district Gazetteer.
    • Streamlining the system of information collection, collation of processing.
